Velotric Summit 1 Ebike

My wife and I had T1ST bikes for almost 2 years and we loved them but she wanted to get a more upright sitting position that was also a step through. She said she would buy one only if I upgraded so I chose a Summit 1. We have only ridden once due to weather has not been very good for the outdoors but it's getting nice now and we usually ride 2-3 times per week. This Summit 1 is unreal how smooth and fun it is to ride. I transferred my suspension seat post, bags and mirror over from my ST and also added the adjustable handlebar stem. Fantastic. I put them both together and keep them maintained which is pretty simple. Actually, the most difficult is cutting the big boxes down and taking to the recycle area.

This is my 4th e-bike. I bought it so my sons can ride with me on my dirt days. I run a mid drive so I was concerned that the feel wouldn’t be the same…while they do feel a little different, they are very close and for so much less than my other. It is so far, well worth the cost. In many ways, it’s better. The battery is more than adequate and I’ve yet to run out…longest trip was 23 miles but it was a rough 23 miles on a single track. Love that it has a throttle! Don’t use it much but when the sugar sand in Florida gets deep and wide, the throttle comes in handy to get through and out of it.

15 levels of power assist is really nice…I use the 5 eco modes the most (as my intent for all of my bikes is exercise) and I find little use out of the higher modes aside from getting home after I’m wore out. In turbo mode, you simply hold on and lightly pedal and the bike does the work. You can get your exercise and power up for more thrill/speed with minimal effort.

Really nice bike for the money. For XC use, I wouldn’t even recommend an upgrade. For mountain bike purposes, possibly a new front shock but for my use, stock has impressed me. Don’t let the price fool you, this is a real deal dirt machine. It’s fun, looks good and holding up to all I’ve thrown at it. (No huge jumps or drops but I’m sure it can handle moderate fun)

My wife and I have been riding Ebikes since 2016 and have really enjoyed them. I picked up a high end (non electric) full suspension mountain bike over a year ago and really got into the sport. Since my wife was also interested in the adventure, I picked up a full suspension mid-drive mountain bike for her. She tried it a couple of times and really missed the throttle available on her Class 2. Additionally, the operation was not smooth; it often lunged all by itself with little effort. I began searching for another mountain bike with a throttle that still offered offroad capability. She honestly didn't need full suspension because she intended to ride only on less technical trails, not downhill. After hours of research and comparison, I was excited to find the Velotric Summit 1. It seemed too good to be true. I was even more excited to learn they were a California based company, rather than dealing with a Chinese brand where quality can be very good, but support is lacking. I took advantage of a New Year's special, getting two free accessories and a great price overall. I assembled it easily the day it arrived. While the regular size was a little too small for me, I took it out for a 10 mile mountain bike adventure. I was so impressed that I purchased a large Summit 1 for myself the very next day. Unfortunately this item arrived with a faulty hub motor. However, the support department responded the same day requesting more information, and 2 business days later they shipped…
